Just out of interest, here is a photo taken by Lindley Winslow, a KamLAND grad student. Here is her commentary on it: There was some debate as to whether you can clean acrylic with alcohol. As I was assembling units today it became neceessary to remove two old acrylic bodies from their stainless steel end pieces. In the attached picture you will see a severely crazed segment in the foreground. I soaked this for ~20 minutes in Ethanol and then removed the stainless steel end. In the background you will see the piece of a unit that was soaked for ~5 minutes and a slight twisting motion to the body caused it to shatter. -- Fred -- Fred Gray / Visiting Postdoctoral Researcher -- -- Department of Physics / University of California, Berkeley -- -- fegray@berkeley.edu / phone 510-642-2438 / fax 510-642-9811 --
