FADC 8 channels

Dear Fred

Good news

We just received the 2 PCB cards mounted with the full electronics. We
are happy. The factory did a very professional work.
We tested them an observed no shorts with power supply on.
The entrance electronics works also as it should be for the 8 channels.
I sen you once more the table of micro-switch position for the various
type of input signals.

I will send you tomorrow one board with the 8 FADCs and I keep in
Louvain the second one with the 5 remaining FADCs.

Software aspects
----------------------
I modified in the .ucf files the assignments for both the frontend and
the backend chips.
I ask you to check my work. You should notice that often Npins and
Ppins are swapped for some data and for some clocks. This was done to
avoid crossings of wires in the PCB layout. I send you a .pdf file with
the schemes of the board.
I modified the simple program you created for the 2 FADC board but
with the new assignments.
I got a compilation and a rooter success for the front end, but failed
in the final rooter and map process of the backend.!!
So I need your help to go further.
I send you herewith the corresponding firmware.

I am afraid that I am not clever enough with IBUFS and OBUFS routines
handling the differential signals . I am not sure to really understand
the arguments. Could you get some documents about it.

Now once you get a correct program can you.
1) send a version to me
2) load a program with the clocks running so that we can have an idea
of the real consumption when all the chips are on work.
3) check that the address where to send the board is still the good
one and confirm.

4) If things works and if the analysis gives good results, we should
order quite soon the FADCs !
Now these boards will also be useful for the TPC ( if still needed) and
not only for neutrons (one board is enough for that)

Best regards
René
