final corrections

Dear Larry,

Today we had the discussion with Eric and John. They liked your design
and did not suggest any changes.

I myself have a few remarks for minor details:

i) Genna was concerned that the angle between the support rods might
be somewhat large, i.e. they could be closer together.
ii) I am concerned that
    - support rod 1 is too long and thus comes to close to
the red transition plate of the wire chamber electronics (0.154")
That should be easy to fix, by shorting the bar by 0.1".
    - The second concern is that the outer support bar comes to close
to the outer edge of the red transition plate. In fact, the
plate is 0.1" longer than indicated in the drawing, so the remaining
distance is only 0.05". It should be moved radially out by 0.1".
A similar less serious concern is that support bar 1 comes
radially close to the yellow/green HV cards.
Both problems could be solved by mounting a thin ring on the
support bar 1, where it support the chamber fiberglass.
BTW a different ring could be used to support the 2002 setup
      on the green transition rings.

That's all.

As regards the bidding procedure, we should have to separate tasks
defined: The carbon steel construction and Al part.

UIUC would like to have 3 copies of the bidding drawings. Eric will
contact one company at Rantoul, Harlan&Lash can't do it. Please
submit the other bidding drawings to companies of you choice.

I will still try to get PSI interested in manufacturing the platform
part. That would have two advantages. First we save money and don't
have to ship the heavy stuff. Second, John and Eric would still get
the key Al parts for making a gondola test structure at NPL.

Finally, Eric asked for a part list of purchase items, bolts etc,
which we could order directly without using your precious time.

Thanks again for the nice job.

With by best regards

Peter
