MuCap teleconference Tuesday, May 2, 11:30 AM to 1 PM (UIUC time)

Dear MuCappers,

this week's teleconference should be a busy one, at least as regards the
Run8 data analysis. First of all, we plan to perform the "relative
unblinding" of the Berkeley and Illinois analyses. Until now, Steve's and
my fitted rates have been presented with secret offsets to keep things
honest and avoid artificial convergences. Secondly, I have spent some
time investigating how the SRIM simulation software can help us to
estimate the systematic error associated with muon scatter events and
their potential for misidentification as fiducial TPC stops. My report
(as posted on my webpage's May 2 entry) is somewhat lengthy and involved,
so if you have the time, I would like to ask those who are interested to
look it over before Tuesday's discussion. The good news is that I don't
believe the scatters are going to be a big deal.

Bernhard may also have something to say concerning the determination of
humidity/high-Z impurity concentrations in Run8/9/10, which he has lately
made some progress on.

The call-in number is 217-244-7532.

Regards,
Tom
