Hot wire D05

Dear Fred,

I scanned with the event display through recent runs to study
the hot wire (anode D5) and came to the following conclusions:

When muons travel over anode D05, a red spot may be induced
there sometimes on the track. The red spot is however rarely
connected with a cathode wire. Therefore, I dont think that
we have a hot "spot", but rather a hot wire.

But these red (or sometimes blue) spots may confuse our muon
stop definitions in the displays and also add fake capture
events. I have seen such cases. Therefore, I am afraid that
our capture event counts in the trend plots might be flawed.

Do you see a simple measure to avoid getting trapped by
wrong capture events due to the hot wire?

Thats all for tonight.

Best regards and a good return to the US, yours

Claude
