Hi Peter,
I was talking to the Hallendienst concerning the mag shielding. For the installation itself we should assume half a day. But there are certainly more things to be done: - At the moment we have on the floor a drawn line indicating the beam line. This will be hidden after the installation. Do we want to have this again on top of the shielding? YES
- It certainly might be a good idea to fix the shielding on the ground. Is there somehow need to fix the tracks of the hydrogen target on the shielding? PK will have to answer that (or Claude)
- There could be need for further alignement by the survey group. This depends on the constructional layout (is something connected with the shielding or not? You might want to talk to the survey guys directly (they are quite good and very nice). Again for below, PK knows this but I don’t either. I personally have too less knowledge on the MuCap installation (for example details of the target) to be able to judge on the design. But regarding these additional tasks, the guy from the Hallendienst said it might easily take a day (if not a bit more than that)
> Also, PW, can you find out when the Cobra magnet is scheduled to >turn on? If not before MuLan leaves, then perhaps we can organize a >test with them and have them put it on while we run for an hour. That >way, we can take a calibration with the field on and find out how many >of our tubes are affected. > > I just phoned Dr. Ootani from the Muegamma group. They are not able to switch on the magnet until beginning of November since they are in maintenance and therefore they cannot cool down the system. OK, but too bad. Perhaps later we can take a test counter and check it out with and without their field on.
Greetings Peter |
