RE: MuLan / MuCap exchange

Folks,
I was under the impression we would begin the exchange on
Monday, the 24th (at the earliest). If things are going well, one could
consider waiting an extra 1 or 2 days.

We need to get an estimate of the work plan to make the
exchange. If MuCap will keep the beamline as is (they will), then we
are talking about
1) Removing MuLan (0.5 days)
2) Putting in mag shielding ( ??? days )
3) Installing MuCap expt. (1 day ?)
4) Installing MuCap "House" (0.5 day ?)

Let's all discuss this very soon to make estimates. Perhaps
Peter Winter can find out about the work plan for the mag shielding work
(that is, the time involved). PK can give an update on the readiness of
the Cap to go in.

Also, PW, can you find out when the Cobra magnet is scheduled to
turn on? If not before MuLan leaves, then perhaps we can organize a
test with them and have them put it on while we run for an hour. That
way, we can take a calibration with the field on and find out how many
of our tubes are affected.

	Regards,
	Dave

Dear Dave,

I thought the official change between experiments in piE3
is on Monday :)

We certainly can talk about the 2 additional days, if necessary.
But they will also need some time to install the magnetic
shielding which will be taken from Mucap allocation.

Best regards

Peter
