If I recall correctly, there was some problem with the USB MSCB connection
on dolphin (it didn't work, and it even stopped the machine from booting up,
I think). However, with an upgraded Linux distribution installed there (FC4),
it's anyone's guess what happens now.
dolphin's current role in the DAQ system is basically just as a network
firewall and an NFS server for the frontends. I think that it would be
fine to install the ePC control there for the moment. The default MIDAS
there is updated to version 1.9.5, which may (or may not) make some trouble
for you. The older MIDAS distribution is still there, though, and since this
is a standalone system there is no problem to use it. Please do be careful
not to connect it to the main MIDAS experiment.

Is this question directed to me or to Steve? (What book???)

OK, sounds good.
