Re: led
Hello
We are just taking a platic Delrin rod and cutting it into short sections.
We plan to drill a hole the size of the LED and one the size of the fiber.
We will just insert the fiber and then glue it in place. The cap will just
slide over the LED snugly and connect the fiber to the LED. This is not an
optimal design for light transmission but our test indicate that it should
work in the MULAN case. We are looking at two fibers. One is a plastic
fiber, diameter is 1mm, the other is an all silica fiber, diameter of 100
um. The glass fibers are easy to prepare. The plastic fibers need to be
polished. My feeling is that the plastic fiber will require a bit more
preparation but it should be much better in terms of light collection.
Regards
Kevin
