MuCAP magnet handling

The MuCAP magnet setup consists of the following items:
- the magnet coils having 2 attached temperature switches
- the magnet switch box which switches off the magnet supply current at temperatures above 35 degree C
- the power supply
- the water pump for the cooling circuit (located behind the concret door)

How to switch on the connected system:

1) turn on the water pump (behind the concrete door)
- turn the black switch to on
- press the green button (hold the button for a few seconds)

2) turn on the magnet switch box
- switch the on/off button to on
- press the RESET / Magnet ON button - you will hear a click of the relay

3) turn on the magnet power supply
- lift the black handle-switch on the left side of the front panel
There are 2 turning knobs: the left constrains the voltage, the rigth constrains the current
- turn the left knob (voltage) to allow maximum voltage
- turn slowly the right knob (current), and increase the current to its maximum (~200 A on the display)

Checking the temperature:

200 A current in the coil should give about 24 degrees C on each coil.
- press the on switch on the thermoelement display.
- press T1 to see the temperature of the upper coil
- press T2 to see the temperature of the lower coil

Checking the current:

- look at the front panel display of the power supply
- use a voltmeter and check the voltage between the 2 copper tubes which are connected to the
power supply. The voltage at 200 A should be 9.40 V.
- use the Gauss-meter which is in the area

How to switch off the system:

1) turn the right know (current) on the front panel of the power supply back till the current
monitor displays = 0
2) flip down the black flip switch of the power supply
3) switch off the magnet switch box
4) turn off the water pump

Possible failures:

1) Power supply does not have power:
        - check if switch box is on and press reset/magnet on
        - check if the 2 temperature switches are plugged into the switch box
(each has a red and white plug on a yellow cable)
        - check if power cord is plugged into switch box extension cord
        - check if switch box power plug 1 is plugged into 3 phase power
        - check if switch box power plug 2 is plugged into 110 Volt transformer
        - magnet is warmer than 35 degree C -> check water pump
if magnet was too hot -> check water pump and wait till temperature switches cool off < 35

2) Power supply has power, but current does not turn on
        - check if voltage (right knob is turned to maximum)
        - check if all power connections on the magnet and on the back of the power supply are ok

3) Pump does not work anymore
        - check if power cable is plugged in
        - call PSI cooling group Hr. Strittmatter tel: 3035

4) Water is leaking out of the conectors on the hose-magnet connection
        - switch off the pump
then try to tighten the connection by using new teflon tape
if this is not successful, try to use a new connector, which is in one of the magnet supply boxes in the area

Setup from scratch:

Water connection to pump:      see the pump circuit diagram

There are 4 red hoses, 2 connect on one side to the outlet (VL = Vorlauf) of the pump system,
2 connect to the return line (RL = Ruecklauf) of the pump system
Every coil connects to one VL and one RL hose.
The pressure on the VL line can be set with the 2 outlet valves and should be around 3-4 bar,
