Re: [Collab] FW: Manpower for run

Hi

Yesterday we tested out the SKYPE features for remote interaction and I think it looks like at least one way to have a remote shift taker easily interact with the person onsite.  We have a permanent microphone for the barrack and we intend to purchase some speakers.  The current SKYPE account
at PSI is

mulanatpsi

When I tried to call the account from my laptop it failed until my name was entered as a contact person on the mulanatpsi SKYPE account. Once my SKYPE account was a valid contact the text windows and the voice transmissions worked great.  So I think we will need to add the contact names
of people who want to use this method.

During the period of low manpower (6 to 4 peopel) Aug 28- Sept 15 I would be more than willing to be assigned regular shifts.  For me the time period that would work best is

5:00 JMU time     11:00 PSI time
9:00 JMU time       3:00 PSI time

I would be available to take this 4 hour shift on any day and I would assume it would make sense to schedule people for several consecutive days.

Cheers
Kevin

Subject: [Collab] FW: Manpower for run

Folks,

As you are all aware, we have achieved good and stable running conditions for MuLan and we are in "production" mode. We aim to have a "Systematics Error Week" around the 3rd week of September and preparations and mini-studies are in progress.  We encourage you to make suggestions and participate.

Attached (and printed below) is the now-known schedule of manpower for on-site running in Sept.  I asked Peter Winter to prepare this from what we know because there is an evident gap in around the 9 - 13th when very few people will be onsite.  Please, if you can alter your plans or help out with shifts, this would be a good time.  Also, if there are omissions, please reply to all here so others won't "panic."   I know Rob is coming back and Kevin Lynch is coming back, both for a number of weeks.  Neither is listed yet.  Others ?

Finally, you may have noticed that Dan Chitwood prepared an eLog on how to run a remote shift -- and, he has done it already.  I believe this will be our best method to patch the holes.  So, if you can't travel, but can put in a coherent 4-hour block of shift taking from remote, please volunteer.  That way, the on-site people can take a break.  They will have cell phones of course for you to call for operator interventions.

Let me let everyone have a chance to think about this and then we can discuss it at tomorrow's (Friday's) meetings.

      Regards,

      Dave
