Dear Peter,
I was hoping for a response from someone at NCSA who
Craig Steffani contacted on our behalf, but time may have
run out. Based on the rather minimal information on the NCSA
Condor documentation page,
http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/UserInfo/Resources/Hardware/Condor/Doc/index.html,
which states,
"Condor is a good fit if your application is compatible with:
* a single cpu per job [serial programs]
* modest input/output disk requirements [megabytes not gigabytes]
* modest memory requirements [not gigabytes],"
it seems fair to say that we need more time to study if
Condor is suitable for us, the concern being mostly with the
second requirement. I can still go tomorrow to visit the NCSA
consultants in person to find someone who can give details about
the Condor cluster.
Regards,
Steven
