Kicker Red LED
Dear Colleagues,
I just read the last elog (97) about the kicker and would
like to reply to it, such that all potential users are aware
of the situation.
A yellow LED means that the card is powered. I believe this
is a clear statement that every one knows.
A red LED means that the card is OFF. This statement is
probably not known and surprised people.
If using the the kicker in a DC mode, only one stack will be
on and one stack will be off (red). This is not the way we
use it.
If using the kicker in AC mode, both stack will be on AT
CERTAIN TIME. However, depending on the on and off
frequency, or more clearly on the duration of the on or off,
you will ONLY see one stack mainly on and one stack mainly
off (red). But in reality, both are becoming on and
off. Your eyes are "lying" to you.
If one start the kicker in the MuLan mode, but with the 1kHz
frequency, as we do for some test, one will see only one
series of light.
Additionally, depending on the polarity, the red LED
appears on the top or bottom stark of a cabinet. Therefore,
there should be a certain symmetry between the HV and MV's
cabinets.
I hope to have been able to express the kicker situation
correctly.
Best regards and happy Easter.
