Re: no progress tonight
Dear Peter,
After Peter sent this email, Marat came to fill CHUPS. We then rolled
back the TPC for the test. You can perform the test in the morning.
We looked at the TPC and have observed significant problems with the TPC
current. It has soft tripped several times already since reaching the
non-amplifying range and we no longer think it is reasonable to proceed
with the TPC in measuring position until the TPC team has diagnosed the
problem. Therefore, after the water test, you can leave the TPC pulled
out. Fred and I have installed the AK-3 target inside the ePCs without
careful measurement. After your test you can align the target with the
beam and the DAQ (assuming the EIC repair/training is successful). We
would then try to run mu+ on AK-3 tomorrow during the day. For minor alignment
of the AK-3, there is no need to lower the ePC voltages. I am pretty
sure that Bernhard did not lower the HV on the ePCs for the installation
either.
Happy Beaming,
Brendan
