Hi Peter,
I did not go beyond 450V, but I got this number by looking
at the OUTPUT of the diode + preamp. Of course this output
depends on the signal driving the photodiode. I tried to keep
the output signal below 5V. Using my light source I didn't
need to go above 450V for any apd/preamp. I think that
with a weak enough light source driving the APD you can go
higher.
I do not yet know the specific model number for our APD/
preamp, otherwise I would look it up. I've been waiting for
our group's post-doc to send me this information, but he
is very busy. I will remind him of this tonight. Hopefully the
documentation will address the issue of a maximum voltage.
