RE: Loan of Fully-Loaded UIUC HEPG's LeCroy HV4032 Power Supply (UIUC inventory # 922113) ...

Steve,
That's great. What I will do is to ship ours to Switzerland and
put yours in the undergraduate laboratory muon setup. That way, on
short notice, we can always extract it and we don't have to chase it
down around the globe. Would that be okay with you?
	Dave

(UIUC inventory # 922113) ...

Dear Dave,

I just let Eric and John (your two technicians) in to
Physics Lab I, so that they can get going on the work
that they need to do for you for building your prototype
SciFi-W calorimeter, using UIUC HEPG's grinder.

We also extracted the LeCroy HV4032 mainframe
power supply from the UIUC ATLAS TileCal DAQ
setup that we used for ATLAS TileCal PMT Testing,
which was completed ~ 3 years ago (~ early Jan, 2003).

The UIUC inventory/tag # of this device is 922113,
with both a metal tag and a sticker/bar-code on the unit's
front panel.

This LeCroy HV4032 mainframe is currently fully loaded
with eight -HV pod power supplies (i.e. 32 channels) for
PMT HV usage. I marked each of the eight HV pods with
a black sharpie pen, "HEP UIUC #" {# = 1-8) in the order
of their channel # grouping (clockwise, starting from upper
LHS).

This LeCroy HV4032 mainframe also currently has its
RS-232 terminator block in it.

We haven't powered it up since it was last used 3 years
ago. At that time, it was working perfectly, all 32 channels
of -HV were working fine, with no problems whatsoever,
under either local or remote/RS-232 commands from the DAQ
HV control program, over the entire testing period of ~ 3 years,
testing > 2000 PMTs, with multiple tests/batch of 20 PMTs.

So I hope it is indeed still working fine, but (obviously) you
need to explicitly test it out fully to make certain of this!

When your experiment in Switzerland is completed this summer
I would appreciate greatly that it be shipped back here promptly.
We currently don't have an immediate use for it at this instant in
time, however we are getting involved (already now) with ATLAS
LHC Upgrade work, so we may (likely will) need it in the future.

    Best Regards,

    Steve
