Mulan beam

Dear Peter,

Peter W. mentioned to me about the MuCap E-Log, and I've got the  
login and everything. About the beamline information. I don't know of  
a specific transport, or turtle file that we have used to model the  
current beamline settings for Mulan Fall 2005. Paul, if you know  
otherwise, perhaps you could let me know where that is.

We've mostly been going off of the last summer tune, and making  
perturbations there-to. In fact since Dave (H) left we've mostly been  
playing with the one quad we know has been drifting, QSK74. I can  
easily do this but I don't know exactly how to find the magnet  
settings for each given magnetic element  with the measured feedback.  
It's a little unclear how the units and conversion to magnetic field  
should go.  I can easily post the present DAQ settings. Should I find  
out who to ask in the magnet department what I need to do to get the  
magnetic field readings for the magnets? Unless there is a specific  
bit of information about how to do just that somewhere in the E-Log I  
don't know about.

Currently we're getting about 5.5 MHz, and and extinction factor of  
1150 or so.

In fact I could try and do something with COSY, and see if we get  
anything different with the beam envelope calculations. I've figured  
out how to do a few fittings. But there, too, I need just  a little  
more info on how to understand the magnetic fields. It's not clear to  
me. Also: what would I do to check the energy of the particles.
