Hi, Peter,

Perhaps I don't understand how you're connecting to the slow control
from offsite.  The correct way (and actually the only working method I'm
aware of) is to use an ssh tunnel through dolphin.  For this, you run
"ssh -L 5905:bears:5901 data@dolphin.psi.ch" and then connect to
VNC display :5 on your local machine (substitute any other digit for 5
if that one is taken).  In this way, everything is sent encrypted
between your machine and dolphin; there is no unsafe connection.

Publishing the data on a Web page on bears would in any event not change 
anything; it would still be on the internal muCap network behind our firewall, 
so you would have to run an ssh tunnel (or some other proxy service) to 
access it.
