update on MuCap activities

Dear Francoise,

Below a brief update on our activities and some questions.

1. During the meeting on the gas exhaust line in the experimental
area on Friday, we concluded that exhausting heavy flammable
gas into a long unvented line is less safe than letting it directly
into the hall. PSI will provide a venting mechanism.

2. I found that the ePC gas bottle was empty !? You could check, but
I will exchange the bottle on Monday. Also I did not find the
gas line from the bottle to the gas manifold (with threaded nut
connectors). Do you know where they are? Otherwise, we'll make
   new ones.

3. It was not clear to us that the dehumidifier was in the correct state.
It was on cooling, not dehumidifying. The effect was that the tent
interior was cold, which might increase condensation of moisture
of warm air from the experimental hall. We think inceasing the
temperature and using the dehumidifier mode is preferable. We should
   discuss that.

4. We should collect the spare anode, cathode and HV boards for the ePC.
We will test the spare HV cards. Please help us finding their location.

5. We got a space in the workshop West for glueing the scintillators. Alas
we had no time for it over the weekend. I will try to negotiate with
Mr Obrist on Monday, how long we can keep the space.

6. We turned on the electronics for ePC1/2. Alas, the FIFO of ePC1 seems
shaky. Fred will test it some more.
Thus far we have gotten ePC1 operational, Brendan is writing an e-log
on that. Brendan will continue on Monday with ePC2. Fred and Peter
will advice on DAQ/FIFO and front end electronics, respectively.

7. Sarah cabled the new Illinois gas sensor and after some troubles it
seems to be working. I still don't understand the calibration and
requested more info from the manufacturer. In any case, it would be
nice to calibrate it against the Kinessa sensors, once they are
   operational (please call them).

8. Brendan and Julia succeeded basically :) in the MSCB ramp up test.

9. Fred and I will play with the neutron detector tomorrow, trying to get
   data before he leaves.

10. Once we find a quiet night, we'll start glueing the scintillators.

You will be very busy with MuLan tomorrow. The update is mainly that we
don't forget the issues and deal with those where we need our help, once
you have time.

Best regards

Peter
