Re: last elog

Dear Peter,
I am a bit confused. Please consider figure 1 in elog post 50. The
smallest impact parameter cut should represent an observed lifetime of
the decay rate + the transfer rate (in the limit that all of the muDs
are quickly lost).

I read that the red 118 ppm curve has a rate of ~0.471e-3 /ns or 471
kHz. In the 3 ppm curve the rate is approximately the lifetime, or 455
kHz. The difference of ~ 16 kHz should come from the transfer rate.
With a rate of 150/s /ppm and a concentration of 100 ppm, the difference
should be about 15000 /s or 15 kHz. Thus, the difference I obtain in my
plot seems roughly ok to me.

Please let me know if this calculation is flawed, or if perhaps another
plot of mine led you to the conclusion that the deviations were too
small. If there are errors, I should surely correct them in a timely
fashion.

Best regards,

Brendan
