another broken
Hi Peter,
I was dismounting the last pair of scintillators when the
connection break. It is the outer detector (from the point
of view of muon decay electron) which is broken on both
side! The bigger one (inner detector) it perfectly ok.
How did it happend? I have heard the breaking sound when I
was just removing the tension on the four screw holding the
white PM tube support. Just when I unlock the bolt, the
white-grey PVC piece moved enough to breakthe join. It did
it on both side.
I feel really bad, but I don't believe I could have avoid
it, even with someone else with me. Therefore, I should now
try to reglue this detector. I will see how badly it is (i
have not yet openend it, but there is no doubt about the
lack of connection). I will then see if I can do something
myself or with someone (?) help.
I have checked all other detector for light and it seems
fairly ok.
Have a good flight.
best regards
Francoise
