Dear friends,
tonight is inconvenient for me to join the teleconference.
so I give you a short summary of mucap developments at PSI:
- the PSI-tpc is still in the training process, presently in
5 bar Nitrogen which is conc. signal amplification almost
equivalent to operation in 10 bar H_2. Yesterday, we have
for the first time reached the maximum foreseen voltage of
6.2 kV, but there is still some more training necessary
including the supply of charges with the Sr90 beta source.
After stable operation with betas over several days, we will
eventually switch to 10 bar protium and do the same procedure
again.
- one week ago, the CHUPS crew (Sasha, Peter II and Marat) came
to PSI and started the improvement program on CHUPS. There
will be 2 new massflow controllers, 2 puffer volumes, an
improved control & operating system, and many other smaller
improvements installed. In the present week the system will
get ready for extended pumping and then protium gas filling.
Weeks nr. 3 and 4 are foreseen for long-time operation tests
and for humidity tests with the "PURA" sensor on order.
With best regards
Claude
